You can Google all day in advance of a meeting and come across like the most intellectual and up-to-date person on the planet. You can go to church every week and carry a bible around and pretend to be right with God. You can suppress your true feelings and carry on all day ‘acting’ as if everything were cool and most people would think you are emotionally at the top of your game. You can rely on credit cards and equity lines to fake having a big bank account and most people would tend to believe that you are who you say you are. But when it comes to your physical habits it is very obvious to everyone how you feel about diet and exercise.
Take a good hard look at your beliefs about diet, exercise, and weight and your body. Do you believe that because you are a couch potato or a computer geek, your lack of exercise will cause you to become fat? We usually get what we expect to get so don’t be surprised when you look in the mirror and see your fat self. Our beliefs, thoughts and expectations firmly dictate our reality. so if you want to change your reality, first you need to change your thoughts.
I decided to take this question of plastic surgery and the search for beauty and see how it can affect some women in the African-American community. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, African-Americans make up only 6% of plastic surgery patients. Why is this? Do African-American women have a more positive self/beauty and body or is it that many cannot afford it? And for the 6% who do have surgery, to which standard of beauty were they trying to aspire?
Finding time to get fit can be difficult. A real check of priorities will show you that a high quality of life should be near the top, and we cannot have that without a healthy body. When you compare the other things in life that you make time for (television, computer games, etc), fitness should be taking a front seat.
Even though I accomplished many of the short term goals I set for myself, there were still some things that I did incorrectly. To this day I have muscle imbalances due to improper training. I knew the basics and that helped me reach the goals I wanted to reach, but I needed someone to teach me the process of working for proper muscle balance. Currently, the muscles in my chest are over developed when compared to the muscles in my upper back. It used to cause back pain in my mid to upper back, but I gradually corrected this muscle imbalance. Now my back pain is virtually non-existent! This is just one example of many ways you can do harm through exercise, so be sure you either consult with someone who knows about exercise, or hire a certified personal trainer before you begin an exercise program.

Know what you are going to tell them when you come home looking different. Unless you told them beforehand that you were getting breast implants, you can just wait and see if anyone notices that after your little visit to the hospital, your breasts got bigger. You may have to fess up if you have gone a lot bigger, but a slight change you could just explain that your body has changed.
